Botanical Name: Carex vulpinoidea Common Name: Brown Fox Sedge Species Category: Wetland Sedge A member of the sedge family, this 2'-3' tall plant blooms in late spring to early summer. Preferring wet soils in full to partial sun, this species is one of our most common sedges and can be found in wet meadows and any other sunny to partially sunny areas where the soils are wet. It is named after its short-lived display of seed heads that resemble a fox's tail. |
