Botanical Name: Helenium autumnale Common Name: Sneezeweed Species Category: Wetland Forb This wetland plant prefers full to partial sun and blooms mid summer to mid fall. It has drooping, yellow, wedge-shaped ray flowers that are 3-lobed. The base of each lance-shaped leaf extends down the stem, making the plant's stem appear to be winged like the shaft of an arrow. Growing 3'-5' tall, the plant gets its name from the fact that the dried flower heads and seeds induce sneezing. |
