West Carrollton and Miamisburg

The section of recreation trail between West Carrollton and Miamisburg has reopened following the reconstruction of more than 1.5 miles of trail. More information

Eight communities receive grants
to protect drinking water sources

Eight communities are sharing $228,000 in grant funds from the Miami Conservancy District (MCD) to protect the source of their drinking water. Each of the communities will provide at least a 25-percent match in funds. More info

Voluntary program provides incentives
to reduce pollution

Funds are available to agricultural producers in the Great Miami River, Stillwater River, and Mad River watersheds who implement projects that reduce phosphorus and nitrogen from running off land into area streams. More info

Reconstruction to close trail section for 90 days

Riders along the Great Miami River Recreation Trail between West Carrollton and Miamisburg will need to find another route for a few months as the Miami Conservancy District (MCD) reconstructs more than 1.5 miles of the trail. More info

StreetSmarts Cycling class coming in April

Learn to safely and legally operate your bicycle in a two-day workshop on Saturdays, April 5 and 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center in Dayton. Offered by certified instructors with the League of American Bicyclists, the class provides hands-on instruction. More information

 

Drive Less, Live More 2008 kicks off
with Bicycle FriendlyCommunity workshop

Fewer than 100 communities across the country have received one of the four possible Bicycle Friendly Community designations. The Dayton region would like to be among that elite group. Sen George Voinovich visits Holes Creek flood protection

Sen. George Voinovich visited Holes Creek to congratulate West Carrollton officials in securing $1.4 million in federal funds to continue the flood prevention project along the creek. MCD is coordinating the project. More info

MCD loses long-time member of Board of Consultants

Ralph Peck, who chaired the MCD Board of Consultants for many years, has died. Dr. Peck was renowned as one of the pioneers of geotechnical engineering (soil mechanics) and was an expert in dams, tunnels, foundations and other earthen structures. More info
