Fifty years ago MCD passes biggest test to date

Flood Protection Exercise at RiverScape Oct. 14

Staff members from the Miami Conservancy District (MCD), city of Dayton and Five Rivers MetroParks will install a floodwall at the RiverScape plaza on Wednesday, Oct. 14, between 8 and 11 a.m. as part of a flood-protection exercise.

Water Quality Credit Trading Program

An eight-member Swedish delegation is in Dayton to learn more about the Water Quality Credit Trading Program that’s reducing pollution in the region’s rivers and streams. The Swedish visitors are interested in developing a similar effort for Europe’s Baltic Sea.

Voluntary program provides incentives to reduce pollution

Up to $250,000 is available to agricultural producers in the Great Miami River, Stillwater River, and Mad River watersheds who implement projects that reduce phosphorus and nitrogen from running off land into area streams.
