The Great Miami River Recreation Trail
The Miami County Bike Trail Task Force is hard at work developing the bike trail from the Miami/Montgomery County line north through Miami County (about 22 miles). Currently, sections of trail have been completed in Piqua, Troy, Tipp City and Concord Township. Most recently, Troy and Tipp City were connected when the Miami County Park District completed a segment from Tipp City Nature Preserve north to the Concord/Monroe Township line.

Representatives from cities, villages and townships have joined Miami County Commissioners, the Miami County Park District, Miami Soil and Water Conservation District, and Miami Conservancy District to plan, promote and construct this dedicated, paved trail.

When the trail is complete, bikers, walkers, runners and skaters will be able to follow the path of the Great Miami River and Miami and Erie Canal as it meanders through the towns of Tipp City, Troy and Piqua in beautiful Miami County. The trail will link parks, historic sites and the river corridor with communities and will provide an excellent venue for exercise, family fun and enjoyment.

Along the trail, users will encounter a number of points of interest, including:

  • Canal Lock Park in Tipp City
  • Eldean Covered Bridge – built in 1860; the only covered bridge in Miami County
  • Atomic Power Plant in Piqua – the first municipally-owned nuclear plant in the country.
