Surface Water Programs

There are more than 2,300 miles of rivers and streams in the Great Miami River Watershed. Their water is utilized for drinking water, recreation, industrial, and agricultural uses. MCD works in partnership with local communities to implement programs that help protect these valuable water resources.

The Be RiverSmart section provides 10 easy things that you can do at home or work to protect water.

The Stormwater section includes information on Stormwater Management Plans, Phase 2 stormwater, and how MCD assists local communities to comply with stormwater permits.

The Surface Water Quality Credit Trading Program section is all about MCD’s program that provides funding incentives for agricultural producers to reduce nutrient runoff to rivers and streams.

The Improving Water Quality Projects section focuses on local projects that were constructed to reduce pollutants to rivers and streams.

The Low Impact Development section provides information on how communities can encourage development that protects our water resources, retrofit existing neighborhoods to reduce pollution runoff, and provides details on successful local projects.
